“Bros before Hoes” Blog Post 002
Still Chatty, Still Tita π Sooo as I mentioned in my first hanash—I don’t have working rights yet, and yes, I talk a lot. That’s probably very clear from my first blog post… lols. ✍️
These past few months (once again, in true late-bloomer fashion), I’ve fallen in love with watching YouTube videos—or is it called content now? I don’t even know what the kids call it these days. Sooo Tita of me, I know! π
Full Disclosure: Not Sponsored—Just Tita-Approved π Okay, before I go on fangirling about the YouTube channels I’ve been glued to lately, let me just say: this is not a paid blog post. I doubt any of them would even notice this little corner of the internet… but my ever-sensitive self felt the need to clarify. Hahaha.
That said, here are some of my the channels I got hooked to, and got me clicking “Next video” hahaha π.
It All Started with Small… So yes, it all began with Small Laude’s channel. So alta, yet still so kikay—and just radiating pure Tita vibes! That one sentence already says a lot about me, doesn’t it? Hahaha π
Just the right mix of glam and goofy—that’s what got me hooked on Small Laude’s channel. I was that obsessed. Woke up to her videos, fell asleep to them. Subscribed, binged, laughed, repeated. But eventually… I unsubscribed. π
Not because I stopped liking her, but as time passed, the vibe shifted. It felt more like a business and a socialite vlog than the kikay-fun energy I first fell in love with. That’s just my take—as one viewer, one Tita, one fangirl turned casual observer.
Then came my travel phase. I discovered World Nomac and Harry Jaggard, and I was hooked again. Watching them explore the Philippines—places I’ve been, places I miss, and places I still dream of visiting—was like a warm hug from home. π΄π΅π
And then there was Ali. I watched a few of his videos too. At first, I was intrigued. But the more I watched, the more something felt… off. Maybe it was just me, but I started sensing a lack of sincerity. And when I saw the video about renting a Filipina girlfriend online—that was it. π© Too much for this Tita viewer. I’ll connect the dots on that later, promise. π¬
One random morning, while HB (Hunny Bunny) was still snoozing beside me, I found myself scrolling through YouTube again. Missing home, feeling nostalgic. Then—aha!—I stumbled upon this Aussie bloke living in the Philippines. He seemed fun, lighthearted, and just the kind of content I needed. So I clicked. And that’s how another YouTube rabbit hole began…
From Daily Laughs to Dodgy Vibes: My YouTube Unsubscribe Moment
Days turned into weeks, and before we knew it, HB and I were fully subscribed to Marco Roams and Marco Roams Raw. It became part of our daily rhythm—morning coffee, bedtime wind-downs—all spent laughing and traveling vicariously with Marco through the Philippines and beyond. π
But then… the Tita in me started noticing things. π
Marco often brings girls along on his trips. And hey—I know, I know… he’s not my son, not my nephew. Buuuuttttt...
Coming from a country where women are often judged, stereotyped, and yes, used—especially in the context of foreign men visiting the Philippines—this hit a nerve. Seeing one girl featured in a certain place one year, and then another girl in the same spot the next? For me, that felt… well, dodgy. π¬
It’s not about facts—it’s about perception. And mine, as a Filipina viewer, was that it came off as dismissive, maybe even disrespectful. I’m not saying that was his intention, but that’s how it landed with me. So I unsubscribed.
I told HB, and of course, he had a different take. For him, Marco’s just a guy trying to make a living online. Fair point. We had a little discussion—agreed to disagree—but I know it left a mark on both of us.
So yeah… maybe the saying “Bros before Hoes” really does hit different when you’re a Tita with thoughts. π€
